Volume Eyelash Extensions for a Dramatic Look: How to for Lash Techs

What Are Volume Eyelash Extensions?

Volume eyelash extensions are a type of lash extension where multiple thin lashes are attached to a single natural lash, resulting in a full and dramatic look. Unlike classic eyelash extensions, which involve attaching one thicker lash to each natural lash, volume lashes require a technique called "fanning," where the lash tech creates a fan of multiple lashes and attaches them to one natural lash. The result is a thicker, fuller lash line with a more dramatic appearance.

The Step By Step process required

Step 1: Prepare Your Workstation

Step 2: Choose Your Lash Extensions

Step 3: Make Your Fans

Step 4: Apply the Lash Extensions

Step 5: Repeat and Fill in Gaps

Step 6: Brush Out the Lashes

Step 7: Advise Your Clients on Aftercare

Step 1: Prepare Your Workstation

Before beginning any lash application, it's important to make sure your workstation is clean and organized. You will need a comfortable chair, a magnifying lamp, a lash pillow, lash extensions in varying lengths, and glue. Make sure all of your tools are sterilized and organized for easy access.

Step 2: Choose Your Lash Extensions

When doing volume eyelash extensions, you will need to choose the right type of lash extensions. Volume lashes come in different diameters, ranging from 0.03mm to 0.07mm, and in different lengths. Generally, the longer the lash extension, the more dramatic the look. Choose a variety of lengths to achieve a natural-looking lash line.

Step 3: Make Your Fans

To create a fan of lashes, take two to six lashes from the lash tray and use a pair of tweezers to gently pinch them together at the base. This will create a fan of lashes that can be attached to one natural lash. It's important to make sure the base of the fan is tight and secure, as this will ensure the lashes stay in place.

STEP 4: Apply the Lash Extensions

Start by isolating one natural lash using your tweezers. Dip your fan of lashes into the lash adhesive and gently place it on top of the natural lash, about 1-2mm away from the eyelid. Hold the fan in place for a few seconds to allow the adhesive to dry and set. Repeat this process on each natural lash, making sure to space the fans evenly and avoid clumping.

Step 5: Repeat and Fill in Gaps

Continue this process until you have filled in the entire lash line. If there are any gaps, go back and add individual lashes to fill them in. It's important to make sure the lash line looks full and even.

Step 6: Brush Out the Lashes

Once you have finished applying the lash extensions, use a clean mascara wand to brush through the lashes, making sure they are separated and even. This will also help to remove any excess adhesive.

Step 7: Advise Your Clients on Aftercare

Aftercare is crucial to the longevity of the lash extensions. Advise your clients not to get their lashes wet for the first 24 hours after the application, to avoid rubbing their eyes or using oil-based products on their lashes, and to avoid sleeping on their face. Regular fills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to maintain the full and dramatic look.

Volume eyelash extensions have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their ability to provide a dramatic and full look to the lashes. As a lash tech, knowing how to properly apply volume lashes is crucial to meeting your client's needs and achieving a stunning result.
